Happy Thanksgiving!

by Kim Sweeney on

I'm feeling incredibly thankful today.

As I cleaned Jewel and Cowboy's paddock, I stopped to think of all the horses in their 30s in the rescue. Cowboy is our oldest now, almost 33 with only 17 teeth. It takes a lot of time and money to take care of the special needs sanctuary horses. They range in age as young as 12 and as old as 32. While cleaning the paddock, I was reminded as I looked at my ponies how blessed I was again this year by Mare Fair. I know we are all more thankful during the week of Thanksgiving.

But my friends, I have been incredibly thankful and blessed so much these past 15 months, all because a group of people wanted to help my rescue. The horses and I will forever be grateful for the day that two strangers showed up, who I now call friends, and along with an amazing group of people who generously blessed all the horses of Fallen Oak. We forever thank you️!

The 25 horses that make up the rescue wish all of you a wonderful holiday. We are so thankful for our incredible three foster homes, our weekly volunteers, Julianne - who rents the rescue 32 acres of her beautiful farm, Kymberly - who feeds the rescue horses every morning and when I’m out of town, Kevin - my awesome farmhand - who is here at least once a week, all of my MLP friends who donate so generously along with all my other donors, all the folks that have adopted horses from the rescue these past four and a half years, and my daughter Trinity - who does all the daily chores with me at both farms. I am so thankful this is my life, for I know it is my calling, and it is something that will continue because of ALL of you.

Be blessed today and everyday.
